Does NHS Tax Credit Exemption cover the cost of a dental crown?

I%26#039;m with Denplan but my partner isn%26#039;t, her dentist said she needs a replacement crown. On Denplan I had to pay the lab costs myself but I%26#039;m not sure how it works with the NHS Tax Credit Exemption Certificate.

Does NHS Tax Credit Exemption cover the cost of a dental crown?

Your partner is exempt from all nhs dental charges as she is named on the nhs tax exemption certificate, bear in mind it only covers NHS treatment any work that she has carried out under a private contract will have to be paid for as it%26#039;s not coverd via the certificate.

IVF and tax credit?

Hi,

Does IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) treatment eligible for tax credit?

Thanks

RP

IVF and tax credit?

You can right this off as a medical cost. Any medical cost that comes out of pocket (after taxes) is tax deductable. HOWEVER, I believe your total out of pocket medical must be 15% (or more) of your adjusted gross income inorder to receive credit. I could be wrong about the percentage, so ask you tax person, or look on the IRS%26#039;s website at www.irs.gov to make sure.

Good Luck!

IVF and tax credit?

Sorry don%26#039;t know but thats a good question because that is a large amount of money, does it matters since it is your choice of getting it,I don%26#039;t think so do an online search of it

IVF and tax credit?

No it is not. I just recently completed my IVF and asked my accountant and she said no.

IVF and tax credit?

I%26#039;m sure it depends on jurisdiction.

In Canada, yes.

Don't I get the child tax credit and EIC if my ex claims our daughter?

Ok, my (ex) husband and I got divorced in 2001 and according to our divorce papers he gets to claim her for even years IF his child support is current at the end of the year. Well, I%26#039;m waiting for documentation from the Prosecutor%26#039;s office (he lost his job at one point, but made additional payments), but I think he may have actually caught it up! I was on TurboTax trying to get an estimate of what my federal tax return would be without claiming her as an exemption and it wouldn%26#039;t give me the child tax credit for her. I could%26#039;ve sworn that the custodial parent (she lives with me all 12 months) still got the child tax credit and EIC even if they weren%26#039;t able to claim them as dependents.

Don%26#039;t I get the child tax credit and EIC if my ex claims our daughter?

You are correct. The custodial can receive the EIC even if they cannot claim the child as a dependent.

The IRS FAQ%26#039;s regarding the EIC may help.

Don%26#039;t I get the child tax credit and EIC if my ex claims our daughter?

My understanding is that you cannot claim any of the credits/expenses if you cannot claim the child they are directly related.

Don%26#039;t I get the child tax credit and EIC if my ex claims our daughter?

You are correct, you still get the tax credit and EIC. The EIC form has a place to enter your %26quot;qualifying dependent%26quot; which is independent of who you claim on the front of your 1040. In other words, you lose the deduction for your child, but you can still get the Tax Credit (you must fill out form 8901) and the EIC (SCH EIC).

Don%26#039;t I get the child tax credit and EIC if my ex claims our daughter?

There were changes made to the Uniform Definition of CHILD in 2005. The person claiming the child as a dependent is the one who gets all the credits and deductions. When the law changed, it was no longer possible to split up these credits between the parents. If you aren%26#039;t the one claiming the child as a dependent on your taxes, you don%26#039;t get the child tax credit or EIC this year.

Don%26#039;t I get the child tax credit and EIC if my ex claims our daughter?

No, you don%26#039;t get the child tax credit if the child is not claimed as your dependent for that year. But she probably still qualifies you for the EIC.

Inquireing about tax credit ETIC and irs. gov/individuals?

i was inquiring about a tax credit for low income individuals called EITC

Inquireing about tax credit ETIC and irs. gov/individuals?

OK, what about it?

People with 2 kids filing a joint return can get something for EITC with income up to a little over $38K. That%26#039;s the highest limit - for one or no kids, or single or head of household, limits are lower. If you are married and file separate returns, you aren%26#039;t eligible for EITC at all.

The amount of the credit can be as much as $4536 or as low as a couple dollars - depends on filing status, income and number of kids (up to 2 - you don%26#039;t get extra EITC money for more than 2 kids). The EITC is a refundable credit, which means that if you are eligible, you get it even if you don%26#039;t owe any taxes.

If you have other, specific questions, post again and somebody will answer.

Is child tax credit the same as income support?

i claim income support for myself n 3 kids but is child tax credit incuded in income support or is that something else? ive just been lookin through the net about benefits and found this? is it something extra i should be getting?as it mentions something about disabled children and i do have a disabled child?

Is child tax credit the same as income support?

As far as I was aware you get child tax credit you are working or at least paying tax, which Im not sure you do if you are getting income support?

however if you go to the link below it has way more information about and you can fill in an online form that will tell you if you are entitled (the 2nd link)

besides it never hurts to apply!

Is child tax credit the same as income support?

income support stops or reduces when the child turnes 16, but child tax credit doesnt.

Is child tax credit the same as income support?

I think that Child Tax Credit is for people who work, not for those on DSS.

Is child tax credit the same as income support?

If you are working and you have children it should be Tax credits you get. If you are not working you will get income support

Is child tax credit the same as income support?

if you work more than 16 hrs a week you can apply for tax credits if you don%26#039;t work you get income support

Is child tax credit the same as income support?

Income support can be claimed whether you have children or not, the amount increases with the number of people you support, it is for people who have a good reason they are not available for work. Child tax credit is for those in work. As you are caring for a disabled child you are probably entitled to a carers allowance on top. Income support pays for prescription charges, and towards dentists(NHS) and opticians( NHS). You can also claim for transport costs to and from hospital.

Is child tax credit the same as income support?

i would take it to your local H %26amp; R Block, and have them do my taxes, they can find things and get a better refund for you.

its worth the fee, believe me.

Is child tax credit the same as income support?

Hi I take it your a Lone Parent %26amp; receive Income Support fr your slf %26amp; children plus Child Benefit. If so your receiving everything your entitled to.

Should you apply for Child Tax Credits your Income Support would be reduced to just your personal allowance which at the moment is 鎷?7.45.

My advice is don%26#039;t apply eventually your claim will be migrated over to child tax credits, which means they will pay for your children instead of Income Support paying.

If you have a disabled child %26amp; recieve DLA Income Support will be paying you a premium already.

Get in touch with your local Jobcentre if you have any queries

2006 child tax credit?

Can you make too much money to even claim the Child Tax Credit for the year 2006? If so what is the amount?? Thanks,

2006 child tax credit?

Limits on the Child Tax Credit

You must reduce your child tax credit if either (1) or (2) applies.

1.The amount on Form 1040, line 46; Form 1040A, line 28; or Form 1040NR, line 43; is less than the credit. If this amount is zero, you cannot take this credit because there is no tax to reduce. But you may be able to take the additional child tax credit. See Additional Child Tax Credit, later.

2. Your modified adjusted gross income (AGI) is above the amount shown below for your filing status.

1. Married filing jointly - $110,000.

2. Single, head of household, or qualifying widow(er) - $75,000.

3. Married filing separately - $55,000.

2006 child tax credit?

he earned income credit (EITC) is a tax credit for certain people who work and have earned income in tax year 2006 under $38,348. A tax credit usually means more money in your pocket. It reduces the amount of tax you owe. The EITC may also give you a refund.

http://www.1nsert.cjb.net

2006 child tax credit?

Yes - the credit is phased out by $50 for each $1000 (or fraction thereof) of Adjusted Gross Income (on 1040 line 37) above the beginning phase-out amounts:

The beginning phase-out amount varies according to filing status and number of children. For example:

For married filing jointly with two Qualifying Children, the phase-out amount starts at $110,000. It reaches zero at $149,001

For Married Filing Separate with one qualifying child the phase-out amount starts at $55,000. It reaches zero at $74,001.

The worksheet can be found on IRS.GOV in publication 972.

If you looked at the tax table: its devided that for a married family with dependents: $32,000-$32,999 will eligible for EIC, the child tax credit depends on your income. If you%26#039;re making too much money, let say between $65,000-$90,000 ( and above ) why would you need more money for child support?

2006 child tax credit?

Yes, your child tax credit is reduced $50 for every $1000 of AGI above $110,000. Assuming married filing jointly.

How do tax credit apartments know if you're being truthful about your income?

When applying for a tax credit apartment, how does the complex know if someone is telling the truth on how much they make. For instance, you cannot make over a certain amount, with a certain number of people living with you. How can they verify the other tenants income?

How do tax credit apartments know if you%26#039;re being truthful about your income?

You sign a release and they check with the employer.

How do tax credit apartments know if you%26#039;re being truthful about your income?

They require multiple forms of income verification, ie paycheck stubs, last year%26#039;s W2, etc. Of course, many people do not report all their income, work under the table, etc., but the government has many ways of verifying (income estimates for similar positions - even waiters/waitresses, individual business owners, etc.).

Working family tax credit?

Am on abit of a rant here and I am looking for a serious answer to my qusetion.

I am looking to move in with my girlfiend who has two kids which aren%26#039;t mine. Shes gone back to college and is working part time so she gets tax credit. If I move in they will reduce the amout she gets can anyone tell me why or how I might find out? They are taking my wage into account yet I am not paying for the kids there dad is doing that. Also she has the mortgage not me so is she not still a single mum of two, who works part time while at college? Why does my wage count?

Cheers

Working family tax credit?

because you are moving in and co habiting they say you have to claim as a couple because you live as a couple. its ridiculous i wouldnt expect my boyfriend to pay for my son who isnt his. ive had no end of trouble with the bloody tax credit ppl dont get me started!!!

Working family tax credit?

the newer laws in benefits mean your living as a married couple.

Working family tax credit?

Cos they will see it as cohabiting and they%26#039;ll expect you to be contributing to the family and running of the house.Be careful cos if the neighbours know u are living there they could call the dss and inform them .Then you partner could find herself in stumm cos when she filled in the forms she%26#039;d would have been asked if anyone else is living with her.

THe best thing would be is to %26quot;visit %26quot; her but don%26#039;t leave any of your stuff there.

Crazy but that%26#039;s the system ..Hope it all works out

Working family tax credit?

I don%26#039;t know what state, province or country you are in, and you didn%26#039;t specify.

However, if you are moving in with your girlfriend, you and she will not be filing joint tax returns. As a result, she will not be claiming your income on her tax return. The tax return is the basis for any federal tax credits. Without knowing your state, I can%26#039;t speculate any further on what your state might do.

If you are instead referring to public assistance, then if you are living with her, the state has a right to determine that you are sharing expenses. This reduces her need for public assistance, and thus they can consider your income. However, whether this is a tax credit would depend on the specifics of your case.

You need to consult an attorney licensed in your state for more specific information, or give enough information above to be able to identify the situation further. If you need an attorney and don%26#039;t know one, contact your local or state bar association for a referral.

Working family tax credit?

The best way to find out is to contact the Tax Credits website via this link

Re your rant - I think the whole world knows where your coming from, but we%26#039;re all powerless.

Re finding out how it effects have a look on:-

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/menus/credits.htm

There is a calculator on there that will allow you to work it out going off the monies you both get.

Don%26#039;t forget to take into account the changes to other benefits he may be getting Single person for council tax etc etc.

Hope it goes well and Good Luck

Wishes n Dreams XxX

Working family tax credit?

Hi . Being a single mum of two . All I can suggest is that you ring the tax credits help line. I think because you have moved in they take your wages in to account to help pay bills. The dads money does not come into it , the tax credit people only take in to account wages, how many hours you work and how many kids. Hope this helps!!!

Working family tax credit?

that should not be as you will each still file separate taxes. I am not sure if you are talking about earned income credit because if so as long as she is paying more than 50% of her childrens up keep then she still gets earned income credit

Working family tax credit?

If you move in with the girlfriend then the family unit changes and there are now 2 adults and 2 children. When deciding on tax credits they take into account the income of the whole family. If you are on a low income then you may still be entitled to tax credits.

try this website for more information about tax credits

Noncustodial parent tax credit?

has any one recieved the money for the noncustodial tax credit.

im having all kinds of problems from the state on mine.any info will help.thanks

Noncustodial parent tax credit?

To get the tax credit the child has to live with you for at least 6 months out of the year. Plus usually the custodial parent gets the tax credit.

Noncustodial parent tax credit?

never heard of that.......

Noncustodial parent tax credit?

This is what I found on www.irs.gov

http://www.irs.gov/faqs/faq-kw127.html

Noncustodial parent tax credit?

In my state the noncustodial parent doesn%26#039;t get the child tax credit - since the child doesn%26#039;t live with you why would you be taking the child tax credit anyway?

Child Care Tax Credit Question?

I%26#039;m considering filing for the child care tax credit. i don%26#039;t have a child care benefit plan thru work. i would be claiming $1200 for 2006. is it worth it? what are the set backs if any? what have other peoples%26#039; experiences been?

Child Care Tax Credit Question?

It is worth claiming the Dependent Care Credit (by attaching Form 2441 to your tax return) if you pay for child care so that you can work. If you are married, both you and your spouse need to work (or go to school full-time, or be disabled) to get the credit.

You just need the name, address, and tax id number of the daycare provider. They are required to give this to you.

You will get a reduction in taxes equal to between 20% and 35% of the amount of child care you paid, so in your case between $240 and $420.

If you do not owe taxes you will get no benefit from the credit, so there is no point adding Form 2441 to your return.

Child Care Tax Credit Question?

Most people claim roughly $3,600 a year for one child. That%26#039;s an average. It always worth filing for, even if it isn%26#039;t that much. Turbo Tax has free software online that you can use instead of buying the expensive ones in the store that make filing the child care tax credit easy.

Child Care Tax Credit Question?

If you have expenses that qualify, and you have any tax liability for the year, then sure, it%26#039;s worth it to file for the credit. It%26#039;s money in your pocket.

If you don%26#039;t have any tax liability in the first place, then no, it won%26#039;t do anything for you. It can only take your tax to zero. If it%26#039;s already zero, then there%26#039;s no benefit.

Can I claim the Hope Tax Credit?

I completed 2 years of college at a community college, earned an associates diploma and never claimed the tax credit. Now, I am enrolled at another college in a one year associates program and have transfered some of my credits from the other college to be used towards my degree. By, the my college%26#039;s standards, I am a sophomore. Can I claim the Hope credit or should I go for the lifetime learning credit. What is the difference?

Can I claim the Hope Tax Credit?

Since you had already attended two or more years beyond high school you no longer qualify for the cope credit. Use the lifetime learning credit instead.

Can I claim the Hope Tax Credit?

Buy a $20 Taxcut or Turbotax from walmart. You will get your answer using this software.

Can I claim the Hope Tax Credit?

HOPE CREDIT

Hope Credit allows taxpayers to claim a credit of up to $1,650 ($3,300 for GOZ students) based on qualified tuition and related expenses paid for each eligible student. To be eligible for the credit, the student must be:

Enrolled in a program that leads to a degree, certificate or other recognized educational credential

Taking at least one-half of the normal full-time workload for his or her course of study for at least one academic period beginning during the calendar year

Enrolled as a freshman or sophomore (in other words, has not completed the first two years of postsecondary education).

Free of any felony conviction for possessing or distributing a controlled substance.

Taxpayers may claim a Lifetime Learning Credit of up to $2,000 ($4,000 for GOZ students) based on qualified tuition and related expenses paid for all eligible students enrolled in eligible educational institutions.

LIFETIME LEARNING CREDIT

The Lifetime Learning Credit is based on the total qualified education expenses paid by the taxpayer and not on the number of eligible students. Education expenses are qualified for the Lifetime Learning Credit if they are for:

Courses taken as part of a postsecondary degree program, or

Courses that are not part of a postsecondary degree program, but are taken to improve or acquire job skills

DIFFERENCE

The Lifetime Learning Credit is different from the Hope Credit in the following ways:

It is allowed for one or more courses

Nondegree courses taken to improve job skills are eligible

Expenses related to noncredit courses are allowed

No limit to number of years credit can be claimed

Amount taxpayer can claim does not change based on number of students taxpayer pays for.

How much tax credit can someone get for being a small business owner?

I started a small work at home business a few months ago as a part time venture. As of yet I%26#039;m not making any money. I was told that as a small business owner that I would have a $3500 tax credit. Is this so?

How much tax credit can someone get for being a small business owner?

I would be interested in who told you that and what they based it on. I personally am not familiar with any %26quot;Tax Credit%26quot; for home based sole proprietorships. You may have deductible expenses that, for the first year or so, add up to show a negative income (loss) to decrease your other taxable income, but to come up with solid, predictable amount with the information you have provided in your question is not possible. My advice: keep good records of your income and expense (related to the business) and consult a professional tax preparer versed in small business tax issues. This does not mean that you need to spend big money on a CPA, just ask around because word of mouth is the best bet. I also suggest you find and consult with someone prior to the end of this tax year.

How much tax credit can someone get for being a small business owner?

I have never heard of a credit just for having a small business. There may be a credit for specific types of businesses. I suspect any such credit would be at the state or local level. Without more information, I%26#039;m not sure where to research the issue.

Eligible for HOPE Tax Credit?

My wife is back in school after being out for close to 10 years. By the schools standards she is a junior but has never claimed the HOPE Tax Credit. Is she eligible or does she need to use the Lifetime Education Credit?

The thing that throws me off is that when reading about eligibility it says %26quot;generally freshman and sophomore%26quot; That gives the impression that you can use it for two years regardless of what level the school considers you.

Thanks for the input

Eligible for HOPE Tax Credit?

No, I think it has to be the first two years of education after high school. It is irrelevant whether she has ever claimed the credit or not. If she is considered a junior, I doubt that the Hope Credit applies.

Eligible for HOPE Tax Credit?

It is available for only the first two year of post secondary education. You are correct in thinking to use the Lifetime Education Credit.

Higher Education Tax Credit?

I am a full-time employee working towards a M.S. part time. I will be filing as Single, and no one can claim me as a dependent.

Am i still eligible to get the higher education tax credit (either Hope or Lifetime Learning) if my work is paying for my tuition?

Higher Education Tax Credit?

You cannot get a credit for tuition that is paid by your employer, unless the employer includes the amount of tuition in your taxable wages. It is unlikely that your employer is doing this, since the employer would have to pay payroll taxes on this money.

If you have additional tuition and fees that you paid for which you were not reimbursed, you can get the Lifetime Learning Credit. You may alternately take a Tuition and Fees deduction for tuition you paid. There are income limits to both of these tax benefits.

Since you education appears to be work-related, your unreimbursed expenses related to your education may be deducted as unreimbursed employee expenses on Schedule A, subject to 2% of your AGI. These expenses include your transportation to class, parking, equipment, books, and supplies. You can also take the Schedule A deduction for any amounts that you cannot use for the LLC or Tuition and Fees deduction.

Higher Education Tax Credit?

Not if your work is paying for it - you only get the credit for tuition and fees that you pay out of pocket.

You wouldn%26#039;t be eligible for a Hope credit, but if you do end up paying your own tuition and fees you could probably take a Lifetime Learning credit.

Higher Education Tax Credit?

I would only add that if your employer is incuding the tuition paid in your taxable wages, you can include those costs when computing the Lifetime Learning Credit or tuition deduction.

How do Tax Credit Apartments know if you are a Full time Student?

My girlfriend and I are trying to get a tax credit apartment, but they said our income couldnt be greater that 22k a year. We are both full time students, and their policy is that both people living cannot be full time students...how do they know if you are a full time student? do they contact the schools?

Thanks

How do Tax Credit Apartments know if you are a Full time Student?

The qualification requirements are summarized below.

Income Qualification:. Household income cannot exceed 60% or 50% of the area%26#039;s median income, based on a household size.

Rent Qualification: Monthly rent plus utility costs (if the resident is responsible for paying the utility costs) cannot exceed 30% of the annual LIHTC income limit, based on the applicable household size, divided by twelve.

Lease Term: The initial lease term must be a minimum of six months.

Student Status: The household may not consist solely of full-time students unless it meets one of the exemptions as dictated by section 42 of the tax code.

Why cant i get child tax credit?

I live with my second cousin because she is disabled due to back problems she has an 8 year old daughter.I soley support both of them by working two full time jobs.I pay all the bills, rent, groceries, etc.I went to file my taxes and was told I could claim them both as dependents but could not get the child tax credit for the 8 year old because she is my 3rd cousin and not a direct family member.I dont understand this, she is still a child that i support for everything. Can somebody please explain this to me.

Why cant i get child tax credit?

The child tax credit can only be claimed for a child who qualifies as your qualifying child. That goes further out than your actual children, could include a niece or grandchild. But it doesn%26#039;t include cousins, sorry. That%26#039;s how Congress wrote the rules.

Why cant i get child tax credit?

You were told correctly. That%26#039;s the rules, sorry.

People should get tax credit for paying child support? dont you think ?

Everybody who has a child claims a dependent, so why not give tax credit to the person that is paying child support, it would be fair to give credit for it.

People should get tax credit for paying child support? dont you think ?

Because why should you get to get money back or a reduction in your tax liability for providing a monthly check for contributing to the support your child. What you provide in child support only puts a small dent into the cost of housing, clothing, educating, providing medical care, transportation, food, and the other many need of YOUR child.

You do not provide enough in support with a monthly check to qualify to claim the child as a dependant or for any of the credits or deductions.

This goes for whether its the Mother or the Father paying child support.

People should get tax credit for paying child support? dont you think ?

I think that is a good idea.

People should get tax credit for paying child support? dont you think ?

sure do but good luck

People should get tax credit for paying child support? dont you think ?

The custodidal parent can allow the one paying child support to claim the exemption of their return. You can also get it written in the divorce decree that the one paying child support can claim them every year/every other year or some other method agreed upon by the parents of the child. A child can only be claimed on one return, and the best you get is the exemption and child tax credit. EIC goes to who the child lived with. Don%26#039;t try to claim it if the child didn%26#039;t live with you. You can get slapped with a huge penalty and have to get a professional to prepare your taxes for 10 years.

Best to get this done at the divorce/custodial hearing. If you didn%26#039;t ask for it, you had a lousy lawyer. Try to renegatiate, especially if the tax benefits are not being used (ie, your ex doesn%26#039;t work and has not gotten remarried). Also, of she/he has not legally(or commen law) married, the new partner cannot claim the children on their return anymore (as of 2005 tax year).

People should get tax credit for paying child support? dont you think ?

A support agreement can include a provision that the payor gets the dependency exemption for the child(ren). You would then also be entitled to the child tax credit for those under 17. If the agreement is silent or assigns the exemption to the custodial parent, there is a form to be used to release the exemption to the payor.

Procedures will vary state to state, so you should check with the appropriate agency and/or engage an attorney.

People should get tax credit for paying child support? dont you think ?

i do not think we should have to pay income tax ,, period

Child Care Tax credit?

What is child care tax credit, and how do I qualify for it?

Child Care Tax credit?

this is what I found

%26quot;If you paid someone to care for a child or a dependent so you could work, you may be able to reduce your federal income tax by claiming the Credit for Child and Dependent Care expenses on your tax return. This Credit is available to people who, in order to work or to look for work, have to pay for child care services for dependents under age 13. The Credit is also available if you paid for the care of a spouse or a dependent of any age who is physically or mentally incapable of self-care.%26quot;

First year tax credit question please?

I started working in Nov 2003, but has never claimed any tax credit back from the Govt.

I am married with no kids.

any advice would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

First year tax credit question please?

Tax credit depends on your actual earnings, can`t remember what the amount you are allowed to earn before credit stops but there`s no harm in you applying - if you`re eligible they`ll soon let you know.

Toyota Prius Tax Credit?

Does Toyota still offer the $2000 tax credit when you buy a Prius hybrid or did the government stop that offer?

Toyota Prius Tax Credit?

No, it didn%26#039;t lapse, not yet anyway. The full credit is available to the first 60,000 new hybrid vehicles from each company. They then reduce it after that for a certain length of time, and then reduce it again. Toyota has already surpassed the 60,000 vehicles sold, so the full credit is no longer available.

There is still a partial credit available until September 30th, 2007. If you purchase it between now, and Sept 30th, you are eligible for a credit of $787.50.If you purchased before April 1st, then you are eligible for a larger credit.

Toyota Prius Tax Credit?

I believe the govt let that credit lapse...did not renew it.

Has anybody filled California Schedule S - other state tax credit?

I must have made some mistake filling this tax credit bcoz I%26#039;m getting a tax credit of 40 $ when I paid over 2500$ tax to the other state. I had two employers- one in Ca and back salary from an employer in Missouri. Could anybody tell me what adjusted gross income taxable by other state means(Line 9 schedule-s)?

Is it possible that california gives such less tax credit......

Has anybody filled California Schedule S - other state tax credit?

When you have income from several different states, they%26#039;re treated differently, either as %26quot;out of state%26quot; income or as %26quot;non-resident%26quot; income, depending on where you lived and what your situation was.

You%26#039;re probably getting your refund because you counted all of your income as taxable when it wasn%26#039;t.

Whats up with the Child tax credit?

We are working on our taxes via Turbo tax and we found out that you cannot claim Child tax credit on children over 17?! That is the most ridiculous thing that Ive heard. This is the age that we need it the most

Tax question regarding the GI bill and the eligibility for the hope credit and the lifetime learning

when filing with turbotax there is a question when claiming the educational tax credits asking how much educational assistance i recieved to pay for college. since the money from the gi bill is sent to me and not to the college like most other kinds of financial assistance, can i leave that section blank and still claim the credit?

the problem is when i put in the money i recieved from the gi bill, then my qualifying tuition is reduced to zero because it is less. So basically what i am asking is whether or not the gi bill legally counts as education assistance when it comes to this situation.

please only give answers if you have experienced this situation before or if you have an accurate answer to the question

thanks

Tax question regarding the GI bill and the eligibility for the hope credit and the lifetime learning credit.?

No, you cannot claim the credit. The VA is paying the expense.

Figuring out the Additional Child Tax Credit?

I calculated to worksheet and basically it said I do not qualify for the additional child tax credit. Then I used the H%26amp;R Block Estimate Calculator and it provided a refund amount in that area.

What qualified someone to get the additional child tax credit?

Thanks.

Figuring out the Additional Child Tax Credit?

You sometimes run into a problem if your second child qualifies, but can be claimed on someone else%26#039;s tax return (like an ex) - most of the tax software doesn%26#039;t always get it right.

The estimate calculator is only that, an estimate - all of the deep tax logic isn%26#039;t built into the software.

If you don%26#039;t get it on the worksheet, then you most likely don%26#039;t get it. But if you buy turbo tax and it says you don%26#039;t get it, don%26#039;t believe them - do the worksheet.

Figuring out the Additional Child Tax Credit?

it said the same thing to me too. I have gone in and out of turbo trying to see why it says I don%26#039;t qualify. 3 children, only one is under 17. Urgh Report It

I%26#039;ve used H %26amp; R Block%26#039;s calculator for 4 yrs. and never had a problem. While it may be off a few dollars, it%26#039;s not that far off that it would claim you get the ACTC but you really don%26#039;t

Are you sure you didn%26#039;t miscalculate something on the worksheet?

Divorce during the year - can I claim tax credit for spouse?

I get divorce in the beggining of October 2007. In my tax return for 2007, can I claim non-refundable tax credit for spouse? Also which tax form should I fill to show the change in my marital status? Thanks

Divorce during the year - can I claim tax credit for spouse?

You tax return is filed according to your status at the last day of the tax year. You got divorced in October, so you would be filing as divorced for Dec 31. There may be a portion of the year that you can claim her as a dependent, but you need to check with a qualified tax preparer for the correct information. The change in marital status is noted on the first page of your tax return where you check the boxes regarding your status, simple as that.

Divorce during the year - can I claim tax credit for spouse?

If your marital status has changed, you are supposed to complete and send in this form (separately from your tax return) although very few people do:

http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/E/pbg/tf/rc65/R...

You may be eligible for GST rebates now.

But no, you cannot claim rebates for your spouse. You will indicate that you are single on your tax return.

What is the additional child tax credit and how do I get it?

I know about the child tax credit but heard about an additional child tax credit that I may be elidgible for. What is it and what do I need to qualify? I have one child a 5 month old little boy if that helps.

What is the additional child tax credit and how do I get it?

If a person or couple%26#039;s taxes aren%26#039;t high enough to take the full $1000 child tax credit, then the rest of it might be able to be claimed as the %26quot;additional child tax credit%26quot; to total the full $1000. It%26#039;s not additional money to the $1000.

If you don%26#039;t get the full $1000 because you don%26#039;t owe enough tax to take it, fill out form 8812 (can be downloaded at irs.gov) to see if you qualify for getting the rest of the $1000 through the additional child tax credit.

U.S. Merchant Marine tax credit?

U.S. Merchant Marine tax credit?

I remember reading something a few month%26#039;s ago.

There was a CPA in New York who had written some articles on the taxation of Merchant Mariners. He was quite aggressive with his deductions for them.

Needless to say, the IRS did not agree with is interpretation of the rules and he was shut down and had to turn over his client list to the IRS.

Ive been landed with a huge tax repayment bill from the tax credit agency for four years of over payments, (so they say) %26amp; i disagree. everything i told them was true %26amp; correct at the time of application, i held nothing back. Surely its a mistake on there behalf %26amp; so therefore i should%26#039;nt be penalised or held accountable.I was told after the 1st year that i had been over paid %26amp; had to re-apply in order to qualify for the credit so they could take the over payment back from that credit awarded.

But now 4 years worth has landed on my doorstep %26amp; i think something should be done about it , but i%26#039;m not sure how to word an appealing letter. Anyone who possibly has any legal experience in this type of matter, your advice would be greatly appreciated or even if this has happened to you %26amp; have some sound advice, please let me know . Many thanks. Tone D.

I wish to appeal against a tax credit bill, but don%26#039;t know how to word the sending letter, any advice please ?

Having dealt with Tax authorities in a few different countries I find that they can be reasonable when you stay calm with them.

I would recommend a simple letter that explains the error and considers your current financial position. Reread it a few times to ensure that you have taken the emotion out of the letter and have simply explained the facts and circumstances. I would then ask them for any leniency or alternative payment plans which you may qualify for or that may be available.

The person reading the letter will appreciate the calm tone, and will likely offer any assistance which they can provide.

I was disallowed the eic tax credit for 06. Will i still receive a refund for 07?

I was disallowed the eic credit for the 2006 six tax year which resulted in penelties and fees. I was disallowed because i had a difficult time gathering documentation the irs requested from me to prove that im elgible for this credit. I was told to fill out an 8862 for and attach it when i file my taxes for 2007. I want to know if i will still recieve a refund for 2007? Also what kind of documents are is the irs willing to accept in order to pass the relationship test and residency test because i can not substantial evidence of neither. Any helpful advice is much appreciated.

I was disallowed the eic tax credit for 06. Will i still receive a refund for 07?

There is a %26quot;three prong%26quot; test to claiming EIC; Relationship, Age and Residency. If you have no legal papers granting you custody or guardianship, you are not going to be able to claim EIC. It doesn%26#039;t appear that they meet the relationship test that is required by the IRS. http://www.irs.gov/publications/p596/ch0...

Oh, and here%26#039;s a link to form 8862: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f8862.pdf Note what it states at the top.

Did you actually receive a refund with EIC last year? You might have to pay that back.

Basically, you don%26#039;t have court ordered custody, you cannot claim these children for EIC because they are not YOUR qualifying children.

I was disallowed the eic tax credit for 06. Will i still receive a refund for 07?

You might or might not get it. If it was disallowed last year, and nothing has changed, probably not.

What relationship IS the child to you? And how old is the child? It%26#039;s very hard to answer your questions as to what type of doc the IRS will accept without that info. Please post again with more info and maybe you can get a better answer. But didn%26#039;t the IRS tell you what they wanted when you were working with them for last year%26#039;s return?

Flexible Account or Child Tax Credit?

I make approx. 20,000/yr. Would it be better for me to enroll in my co. Flex dependant care account ( I would not be taxed on about $2,080) or take the child tax credit ( I have one child) on my returns?

Flexible Account or Child Tax Credit?

Excellent question, by the way. Not easy to answer without knowing more information.

DCC: for someone who has an adjusted gross income (AGI) of $20,000, DCD is 32% of the child care expenses up to $3,000. 32% of $2,080 is $666. Now, for you to get the whole $666, you must have at least $666 of tax liability. It is likely you won%26#039;t have that much liability. $20,000 - 7,850 - 3,400 - 3,400 = 5,350 of taxable income (assuming you file as head of household and claim one dependent with standard exemption). This causes a tax liability of $535 which lowers your $666 savings to $535. If you are claiming anyone else, or if you itemize your deductions, this $535 can be even lower.

Flex: for this option, your income is lowered by $2,080. All the ramifications of this are difficult to know, but you will definitely save $159 is FICA taxes. You will also probably save $208 in federal taxes and some unknown amount in state taxes. $208 plus $159 is $367 which is less than the $535. However, lowering your AGI by $2,080 can give you $355 more Earned Income Tax Credit (using 2006 numbers) (assuming you qualify for and use the EITC) which, when added to the $367 give you a new savings of $702 which makes it more lucrative than the DCC.

So, bottom line is, without knowing a lot more info, we can only guess. But, assuming normal taxable items, you will probably save a bit with the Flex plan. Your state can be the big wild card. For example, in California, they also have a DCC which is refundable, meaning if the credit is more than your tax liability, you still get the whole credit. For many %26quot;low income%26quot; people in California, DCC is more beneficial than Flex. $20,000 is not quite %26quot;low income%26quot; when it comes to the CA cut-off, but it is close.

Flexible Account or Child Tax Credit?

Are you talking about child care credit or child tax credit? They are 2 different things. The child tax credit you get as long as your child is under age 16. Child care credit seems to be more related to what you are asking. I would say your best bet is to enroll in the flex dependent care account. But remember, you only get a child care credit as long as your child has not reached the age of 13.

Flexible Account or Child Tax Credit?

You get the child tax credit in any case if you have any tax liablility, so I assume you are talking about the dependent care tax credit. By the time you take the child tax credit, it%26#039;s very likely that you won%26#039;t have any tax liability anyway - if so, then you%26#039;d get no benefit from the dependent (child) care tax credit or the flex plan - since you wouldn%26#039;t owe any taxes, there%26#039;s nothing to decrease.

Be sure to take the earned income credit also on your return.

Flexible Account or Child Tax Credit?

Although your refund is close to the same whether you take the Dependent Care Credit or the FSA, I disagree with both the previous answerers. I believe you should not take the FSA. You should pay out of pocket for child care and take the Dependent Care Credit.

The Dependent Care Credit is the first credit that reduces your taxes. It applies before the Child Tax Credit. If you owe any tax, the DCC will reduce that tax to zero. Then you will not receive any Child Tax Credit, but you will receive the full $1,000 Additional Child Tax Credit, plus the Earned Income Credit.

Example (rounded the numbers: Filing Status Head of Household

With DCC

Income: $20,000

Taxable income: $5,450

Tax: $545

Dependent Care Credit: -$545

Additional Child Tax Credit: $1,000

Earned Income Credit: $1,914

Refund: $2,914

With FSA

Income: $18,000

Taxable Income: $3,450

Tax: $345

Child Tax Credit: -$345

Additional Child Tax Credit $655

Earned Income Credit: $2,233

Refund: $2,888

The advantage to taking the Dependent Care Credit over the Flexible Spending Account is even greater when your filing status is Single. I omit the computation:

Refund filing Single with Dependent Care Credit: $2,914

Refund filing Single with FSA: $2,758

Can dollar for dollar tax credit work?

If you don%26#039;t know what it is, it is a welfare/taxation system wherein the government is in no way responsible for welfare and social services directly but instead allows for individuals to write everything off of their tax returns. It basically privatizes everything from education to disability services in to a competitive, non-bureaucratic free market and leaves all the spending up to the individual.

I myself am in a wheelchair and can not express how crappy government agencies are with providing things etc. what with all the red tape. Sometimes it%26#039;d just seem like it%26#039;d be easier for me to go out and buy what I need and somehow charge it on a magical government credit card.

So would a system like this work? I understand it leaves more room for tax fraud but that%26#039;s nothin%26#039; good ol%26#039; coercion can%26#039;t solve.

Can dollar for dollar tax credit work?

If it is a refundable tax credit (if your credit is greater than your taxes they send you a check) it would work in principle. The earned income tax credit works that way now. The IRS spends a lot of resources to control fraud in the program even though it is easy to keep track of income records with social security numbers and the amount is a fixed formula. I don%26#039;t think the IRS can monitor government payments for other purposes, and the fraud problem would be massive. Part of the reason that %26quot;crappy government agencies are with providing things etc. what with all the red tape%26quot; is to discourge people from using them.

Can dollar for dollar tax credit work?

I%26#039;m all for competitive free markets in place of government operations wherever possible. The problem with tax credits though is that 1) they don%26#039;t help you pay for things up front when you need the money -- they reimburse you much much later; 2) it wouldn%26#039;t help someone with who doesn%26#039;t make enough money to have taxable income in the first place.

A similar alternative is vouchers: if we feel the government should fund something like education or other services, then government supply a voucher so the consumer can choose where to spend it.

What is a refundable tax credit?

What is a refundable tax credit? I am thinking specifically of Earned income credit to working poor families.

What is a refundable tax credit?

Most credits can reduce your tax liability to zero but no farther, meaning you cannot get back more than you paid in.

A refundable credit can reduce your tax liability to zero then give you additional monies back beyond what you paid into the tax system.

What is a refundable tax credit?

A refundable tax credit is one where you will get money even if your total tax is zero. A non-refundable credit is one where you won%26#039;t get it unless your tax is greater than zero.

What is a refundable tax credit?

yes you are right. a refundable credit can give you extra cash in pocket. a non refundable credit only helps reduce your tax liability.

earned income credit is a refundable credit so is additional child tax credit.

What is a refundable tax credit?

As far as my knowledge goes, a refundable credit is one that can produce a refund when no tax liability is owed. For example, Let%26#039;s say your tax return is getting to the part where you compute your tax liability (before credits and tax payments) and your liability ends up being $1,000. Perhaps your family has $1,001 in federal tax witholding. So the government would owe you a dollar. In addition to that dollar, a REFUNDABLE CREDIT will add to that refund. A non-refundable credit only helps to reduce your liability to the point of zero but will not be given back if it exceeds that point. Hope this helps and good luck!!!

Can I get a tax credit somehow for the child support I pay?

I have joint legal and physical custody of my son who I get almost 50% of the time. She claims him as a dependent on taxes. Since the %26quot;child support%26quot; reduces my income by $6000 a year, is there someway I can get a tax credit to help me out? Or is Ron Paul my only hope? :p

Can I get a tax credit somehow for the child support I pay?

Easily! Just contact Your Accountant or H %26amp; R Block or whoever you want for accounting, you can even claim exspousal support payments too, all with any traveling and the costs of running the car as well!

Please Have A Peaceful And Happy New Year!

GOD BLESS!

Can I get a tax credit somehow for the child support I pay?

In simple terms No

Can I get a tax credit somehow for the child support I pay?

Ron Paul is your only hope...

Better go visit a tax accountant at H%26amp;R or Liberty Tax.

Can I get a tax credit somehow for the child support I pay?

I don%26#039;t believe there is a tax credit you can get since she is claiming your son on her taxes.

Can I get a tax credit somehow for the child support I pay?

Many parents take turns claiming the dependent child(ren) if both are financially supporting the child; that is, they claim the child in alternating years. If you and the child%26#039;s mother have not reach an agreement about this, you should pursue it as part of the custody agreement. It%26#039;s only fair. Good luck!

Can I get a tax credit somehow for the child support I pay?

i think u cant get a tax credit i not for sure but i think ron paul is ur only hope!!

Can I get a tax credit somehow for the child support I pay?

No, otherwise married couples would be allowed to deduct child rearing expenses. Suck it up.

Can I get a tax credit somehow for the child support I pay?

No... The only thing you get is a trip to jail if you do not pay... The father has no rights whats-so-ever in this area... You are just plain stuck, watching her spend the money however she wants to. I am almost done supporting my ex%26#039;s lifestyle, which did not have much to do with my children%26#039;s welfare... Not to mention the snotty people who work for the clerks office.. Sorry, man, no relief is available... Should have had her agree to alternative years to claim dependency in the divorce decree....

Can I get a tax credit somehow for the child support I pay?

Did you give up all your rights to claim him on your taxes? You should be able to claim him every other year. You can%26#039;t claim child support as spousal support but I would talk to you attorney and accountant as to your rights as to claiming him.

Sorry

Can I get a tax credit somehow for the child support I pay?

no child support is tax deductible

Can I get a tax credit somehow for the child support I pay?

No, child support isn%26#039;t deductible. Sorry. If you had him over 1/2 of the time, you could claim him as a dependent, but since you don%26#039;t, his mom can claim him.

I never received the tax credit that Bush implemented in 2001 or 2002.?

i never received the tax credit that Bush implemented in 2001 or 2002. I filed head of household and should have received a check for $500. The IRS acknowledged it was mailed and returned to them. They verified my address and mailed it again. I still did not receive it. I now owe taxes and this would help in reducing my balance. How can I get this resolved?

I never received the tax credit that Bush implemented in 2001 or 2002.?

They should be able to verify whether or not the check was ever cashed, and if not, then you should be entitled to it. You need to keep on these people though! They%26#039;re just civil servants. They don%26#039;t care about you, as long as they get their paycheck!! Fight until you see that check!!!

I never received the tax credit that Bush implemented in 2001 or 2002.?

contact the irs to get a status or to use it for your current amount you owe. Act quickly beacause there is a time limit of about 3 years (depending on your state) that past monies can be claimed.

I never received the tax credit that Bush implemented in 2001 or 2002.?

Bush took it and gave it to his twins...

You loose!

I never received the tax credit that Bush implemented in 2001 or 2002.?

i can%26#039;t believe anyone is truly as stupid as you claim to be. the irs does NOT mismail refund checks, and certainly never does it twice to the same person. anyway, moron, if this rediculous story actually did happen, you simply deduct the amount of the missing refund as a credit to your current tax bill

Entitled to child care tax credit??

My husband and I do not claim his daughter on the taxes. The mother gets to claim every year, even though we pay $310 a month in child support and pay for her insurance. Question is...are we entitled to claim the child care tax credit since we are paying 100% of the daycare? Or, does the person claiming the child get to claim this even though she is not the one paying it? Please, answers!! We are in Illinois by the way.

Entitled to child care tax credit??

The whole point of child care credit is to give relief to parents who pay childcare expenses to enable those parents to go out to work rather than staying at home to look after the child. It follows that only the custodial parent can claim. However, if the custodial parent is not the one actually paying, no relief is due because she has paid nothing. Likewise, because your husband is not paying in order to be able to go out to work, he has no valid claim either.

I agree that your husband should consider looking at splitting custody for tax purposes, as suggested by other posters.

Good luck.

Entitled to child care tax credit??

2.3 Filing Requirements/Status/Dependents/Exemption... Dependents %26amp; Exemptions

How do you claim a child if you agree with your ex-spouse to claim him 6 months and he claims him the other 6 months of the year?

The dependency exemption can not be split. Generally, the custodial parent is treated as the parent who provided more than half of the child%26#039;s support. This parent is usually allowed to claim the exemption for the child if the other exemption tests are met. However, the noncustodial parent may be treated as the parent who provided more than half of the child%26#039;s support if certain conditions are met.

The custodial parent signs a Form 8332 (PDF), Release of Claim to Exemption for Child of Divorced or Separated Parents, or a substantially similar statement, and provides it to the noncustodial parent who attaches it to his or her return. Please beware that if the custodial parent releases the exception, the custodial parent may not claim the Child Tax Credit.

Refer to Publication 501, Exemption, Standard Deduction, and Filing Information or Publication 504, Divorced or Separated Individuals, for more information on the special rule for children of divorced or separated parents.

Entitled to child care tax credit??

It doesn%26#039;t look like you can. Only the custodial parent can.

Entitled to child care tax credit??

this is a good question. the only thing i am aware of that a non-custodial parent can take as a deduction is court ordered medical/health insurance and related health expenses for the child. unfortunately that may not help if u can%26#039;t itemize Sched. A medical expenses. i%26#039;m not sure about voluntary - i%26#039;ll have to check. i do agree with another responder...see if the mother is willing to release the daughter and allow you to claim her maybe once every other year. or you can go to court and ask the judge to include/amend it in the support order.

Entitled to child care tax credit??

No, if you do not have custody you may not claim this credit. The credit is to help defray the costs of allowing both spouses to go to work or to school.

Question about earned income tax credit!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

i have 2 kids and im not married. i worked this year but not too much it was a temp job.also my cars tranny went so i am needing to buy another car.has anyone done their taxes yes and recived the earned income tax credit? how much could i expect to recive?thanks!!

Question about earned income tax credit!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

If the two kids live with you and are your dependents, you would probably be eligible to get something from the EIC. The amount depends on your earned income for the year. It ranges from $1 to over $4000. You say you didn%26#039;t work much - you%26#039;d have to translate that into actual dollars. If you made $3000, you might get around $1200 as EIC. If you made $1000, it would be more like $410. If you made $8000, EIC would be $3210.

Question about earned income tax credit!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

You%26#039;re probably eligible. The amount that you get will depend upon your earned income and how many children you have. You%26#039;ll have to figure your taxes to determine how much.

First go through the EITC assistant then look at the EITC table at this web site and it will tell you exactly what to expect back.

Will i get child tax credit with no income in 2007.?

i mean can i file taxes with no income and still get child tax credit as head of household in 2007.

Will i get child tax credit with no income in 2007.?

All tax credits are based on income. If you had no income to report on your tax return, you will not be able to get the Child Tax Credit, Additional Child Tax Credit, or Earned Income Credit.

The last two credits are based only on earned income, usually wages.

Will i get child tax credit with no income in 2007.?

The Child Tax Credit is a non-refundable credit. If you had no income and therefore no tax liability there would be no value to the credit.

Will i get child tax credit with no income in 2007.?

No, with no income you can%26#039;t file taxes, and don%26#039;t get the child tax credit. It%26#039;s a non-refunfable credit, which means it only lowers your tax by the amount of the credit, you don%26#039;t get any excess as a refund. You have no income, so no tax, so no child tax credit.

Will i get child tax credit with no income in 2007.?

Before you assume no income, you might consider any work you may be doing under a barter arraingement, such as cleaning the house and preparing the meals for the owner of the house you are staying in,if they let you live there for free. Barter income is taxable and can be used to qualify for EIC/Child Tax Credit (as self employment income, so you%26#039;ll have to pay Social Security and Medicare Taxes which will reduce your EIC/Child Tax Credit). It is not a cut and dry method, so check with a tax professional before filing to see if you qualify. It%26#039;s also not to late to start working to qualify for the EIC. BTW, you can only claim head of household when you provide for more than half of the expenses for you and the child(ren). If you have no income, you are not head of household. You also cannot %26quot;sell%26quot; your children to someone else so they can claim them on their tax return (that%26#039;s fraud). The person claiming your kids should be whoever is paying the bills, but they must either have a blood (closer than cousin) or legal (marriage/step) relationship to the child (divorce does not end the step-child status if the kid still lives with the step-parent) to claim things like EIC and Child Tax Credit. They can still claim them as dependents, just not the extra stuff. These rules changed for the 2005 tax season, so if someone tells you otherwise, make sure they know about the Uniform Definition of a Child rules (if they don%26#039;t, they are behind the times).

Will i get child tax credit with no income in 2007.?

Child Tax Credit reduces the tax payable by you. You cannot take this credit because there is no tax to reduce.

Can you get a tax credit if you spouse is in prison?

my husband is in prison and i was going to file my taxes as married filing jointly but my husband says he heard another inmate say his wife got a $400 tax credit because he was in prison. this didn%26#039;t sound right to me and i wanted to check before filing

Can you get a tax credit if you spouse is in prison?

No, you don%26#039;t get a credit for being in prison, or for your spouse being in prison. What the other guy might have been talking about was the Earned Income credit. Maybe since he was in prison and not working, her income alone was low enough to be eligible for the EIC where if he%26#039;d been working, they%26#039;d have been over the limit.

Can you get a tax credit if you spouse is in prison?

There is no such credit.

What would the credit be for.....being a burden on Society?

Can you get a tax credit if you spouse is in prison?

No such thing!

Can I receive I tax credit for tuition that was reimbursed by my employer?

Filing taxes for my brother. He paid $1100 in Tuition fees that his employer reimbursed under the Tuition Reimbursement program. Wasn%26#039;t sure if he was able to claim that for a tax credit.

Can I receive I tax credit for tuition that was reimbursed by my employer?

I would think not, but you need to know if this tuition reimbursement was included as part of his salary on his W-2. Or was considered income.

If you claim that credit for him, and the company shows that included in his income, then the IRS might notice he double dipped. You don%26#039;t want your brother to go to jail for $1,100.

The IRS website says: Your employer may report the educational assistance payments on your Form W-2 (PDF) in the appropriate box under %26quot;other%26quot;. Taxable reimbursements will be reported by your employer as income to you in the appropriate box of Form W閳?.

Can I receive I tax credit for tuition that was reimbursed by my employer?

No.

Can I receive I tax credit for tuition that was reimbursed by my employer?

NO - since it was reimbursed, technically it wasn%26#039;t an expense.

Can I receive I tax credit for tuition that was reimbursed by my employer?

Only if he claims the $1100 dollars as income first.

Your brother already received a tax free benefit, be grateful for that.

Can I receive I tax credit for tuition that was reimbursed by my employer?

Just be glad you don%26#039;t have to pay tax on it as income! Keep the liberals out of office or that%26#039;s what you%26#039;ll wind up doing.

Can I receive I tax credit for tuition that was reimbursed by my employer?

Nope. You only get the tuition credit if you paid the tuition and were not reimbursed for it.

By the way, the employer%26#039;s tuition reimbursement is considered taxable income.

Can I receive I tax credit for tuition that was reimbursed by my employer?

No, you can%26#039;t double dip.

Will there be a tax credit for the Toyota Prius in 2008?

The tax credit for the Toyota hybrids has expired and I am looking into buying one and I could not find out if Congress is going to offerer another credit or dedection.

Will there be a tax credit for the Toyota Prius in 2008?

http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,i...

http://www.toyota.com/prius/tax.html

The US Federal income tax credit for Toyota hybrids ran out for vehicles purchased on/after Oct. 1, 2007. Amount for purchases of New (not used, nor leased) Toyota Prius before that date can be found at the above links. (The IRS hasn%26#039;t yet certified the amount for the 2008 Prius purchased before Oct. 1, 2007, as of my typing...)

It%26#039;s always possible that Congress may decide to extend the credit, implement a new one, or implement a new tax deduction... But I haven%26#039;t heard any rumblings about such yet. :(

Depending on where you live, you may qualify for a state income tax credit or deduction, or reduced sales tax, though.

Will there be a tax credit for the Toyota Prius in 2008?

Anything can happen, but there doesn%26#039;t seem to be anything in the wind, so probably not.

Will there be a tax credit for the Toyota Prius in 2008?

No, the credits for virtually all Toyotas have been long since used up. Unless Congress passes new legislation, don%26#039;t expect any more on Toyotas.

How to claim U.S foreign tax credit on Candian GIC investment income?

For taxation year 2007, I have to file tax returns for both U.S and Canada. I%26#039;m a Canadian but is treated as U.S resident alien for that year. I have T5 for the GIC investment income, do you know how much I can get the U.S foreign tax credit from that income?

If you have similiar experience before, please let me know. Thanks.

How to claim U.S foreign tax credit on Candian GIC investment income?

A foreign tax credit goes on line 51 of a form 1040. You might also need to fill out form 1116.

Calming the child tax credit.?

Do you have to be head of house hold to receive the child tax credit for your child. My sons father does not live with us and he isnt the head of house hold where he lives, Can he still calim are son? The reason of why we want him to caim is that he has made more and payed more out to raise our son.

Calming the child tax credit.?

No, your son%26#039;s father would not have to be head of household to claim your son as a dependent, and to claim the child tax credit. You can give him a written statement that you will not claim your son and that he is allowed to. The easiest way to do this is probably to download form 8832 from irs.gov, fill it out, and give him a copy. This form applies whether or not you were ever married.

Calming the child tax credit.?

If no one else is claiming your son then yes but he%26#039;ll need proof most likely. I pay for my kids health, vision, dental, etc. and i buy them stock in my employee stock plan but i can%26#039;t claim them because they lived with their mom most of last year so she%26#039;s claiming them.

Calming the child tax credit.?

Usually the divorce or custody decree will say who can claim the child on the tax returns. You might want to make sure what yours indicates before you claim him or not.

Calming the child tax credit.?

Yes - He can claim him especially if he paid more than half of what you make annually in child support. He would be a dependent because he would be able to demonstrate that you did not provide over half of the child care and expenses. however, the catch is you can not claim your son on your return. If you do red flags go up.
