In texas, whats the maximum number of dependants u can file to recieve child tax credit?

I have 3 qualifying dependants. I typically file head of household(since i%26#039;m single parent)..I was told, for the Earned Income Credit, the max limit is 2 kids(in order to receive this credit), so what%26#039;s the limit when it comes to claiming the Child Tax Credit?

specifically, Am I able to recieve the child tax credit on all 3 of my dependants, thus having a greater refund on my federal tax return? i owe no taxes, to date. Help?

You can have as many as you want but the credit does not get any bigger after two.

It has nothing to do with TX. TX doesn%26#039;t have an income tax or any of those credits. These are Federal and apply regardless of where in the US you reside.

The EIC maxes out with 2 kids, as does the Additional Child Tax Credit. The EIC and the ACTC are refundable credits. The Child Tax Credit is not. Refundable credits can be returned to you even once your tax liability reaches zero. Therefore it doesn%26#039;t matter how many children you have when it comes to the CTC; if your tax liability is already wiped out it%26#039;s worthless to you.

You can get a child tax credit for all 3 kids if you have that much tax liability - you get $1000 off your taxes for each kid until it%26#039;s zero. If you don%26#039;t owe enough to take the full amount, you might or might not be eligible for something called the additional child tax credit, which gives you some of the money even if your tax is zero.
