S o r r y - Wouldn%26#039;t we all like not to pay these things? Pardon me if I am wrong but I thought the reason for being on Incapacity Benefit was because you were TOO ill to work?

Bet if you had to post your name and address here you wouldn%26#039;t do it? Sorry to the person asking the question as I have diverted. Good luck with the job and I admire you, just sorry I cannot answer your question.

What did you have for 10 years that has now got better? That%26#039;s apart from the fact that you want to work full time, AND claim incapacity benefit and also the tax credit.

As the rest of us have been supporting you for the past 10 years, with your salary, tax credit and incapacity benefit, would you actually be paying any tax now? That is a bigger concern to the rest of us then if you can claim both.

Best way to get an answer to claiming both and working is to contact the benefit office. Why didn%26#039;t you do that in the first place. Is it because you are worried that they will question your incapacity benefit if you are making enquiries about return to work tax credits?

Please don%26#039;t add something to your question telling me about your sad incapacity, I just won%26#039;t believe it, Sorry to be a ***** but you asked for it by asking us this question and not the appropriate authorities

Only one i can think of is the 50 plus element

If you are over 50

and returning to work

and have been in receipt of a qualifying benefit for the past 6 months eg IB

you may get the 50 plus element of the working tax credit (payable for one year only)

This might be similar to the earned income credit in the states. Its probable to encourage people on govornment assistance to get a job. In the US if you go to work and dont earn alot of money 12000-38000 depending on if you are single or married or if you have children, you can get some money from the govornment. Hope this helps, you should be respected for trying to go back to work.

Return to work tax credits never heard of it, I work at Jobcentre %26amp; help Lone Parents back into work, I complete tax credit forms all the time but never come across that one have you got it mixed up with something else or is it solely for incapacity benefit customers.

Speak to a IB Personal Adviser at Jobcentre who deals with people like yourself.

Good for you on returning to work after a long time being unable to work lets hope the young work shy louts out there take a leaf from your book.
